I’m Jennifer, Sean and Rory’s mom. Daughter of the original “Super Mom,” before there was such a title. I am divorced from Sean and Rory’s father, after 14 year’s of marriage. From a chance meeting…or fate, I am now married to my first boyfriend from when I was a teenager. That would be Neil. My son, Sean, has autism. Autism sucks! Only time I let me kids use the word, “sucks.” Who am I kidding, my “kids” are now men. I’m sure they use more colorful words than “sucks.” With every up and down, Sean, and we, as a family, learn lessons that make us stronger. Sean’s body is healing. Slowly, but surely. We will never, never, never give up! I believe there is always something to be grateful for! My job nowadays is to take care of my family, in every way I can. As Sean is an adult and living at home, I am his full time care giver as well. Most rewarding, tiring, inspiring, exhausting job ever! I am a NYC DOE Certified Elementary School Teacher, on leave, but forever teaching. To learn more ways to help Sean on his path to recovery, I became a Holistic Health Practioner as well. Oh and did I mention I used to bake and sell “Sean’s Food?” I was sharing my creations that were gluten, casein, soy, corn, rice and potato free. Going through a divorce, taking care of the home life with my kiddos (they were 8 and 11 at the time) and learning about my Mom’s diagnosis of Parkinsons’s, I decided to put “Sean’s Food” on hold. Now that Sean’s gut is continuing to heal, he is able to tolerate more foods, so “Sean’s Food” is not necessary or worthwhile.
Why would I want to blog? Well, I figured maybe, just maybe, if I share some of my life stories, as stories, not struggles, maybe I will breath a little bit of inspiration or hope or laughter into your life! That’s when I decided to blog “Improving lives through perception.” Now it’s time to show a glimpse of Sean’s perception, Sean’s voice, Sean’s life, and Sean’s progress. Enjoy the vlogs....apparently that's a fancy name for video blogs.
“It is what it is …. But it will become what you make of it”
Thank you for spending time with me,
XOXO Jennifer
